Central Coast Culture Gateway is a community venture that provides a one stop shop for engaging with anything relating to Aboriginal Culture on the Central Coast of New South Wales Australia.

The Central Coast is bound by the Hawkesbury River, the Watagan Mountains, Lake Macquarie and the Pacific Ocean. It boasts many national parks of exceptional natural beauty and 2,985 registered sites of Aboriginal cultural significance.

The traditional owners are the Darkinyung people, they never ceded the land.

The Central Coast is one of Australia’s largest nations of First Peoples and is the fastest growing Aboriginal community in Australia with a population of over 12,000 people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islanders according to the 2016 census.

While there is an immense richness in Aboriginal culture throughout the Central Coast, the providers of cultural experiences are sometimes hard to locate and make contact with, hence the need for the Central Coast Culture Gateway.

Central Coast Culture Gateway exists to connect seekers and providers of Aboriginal culture so we can share that culture for everyone's benefit.

We do not sit in judgement of our providers nor rank them against each other, we simply provide a platform that helps people connect around culture and community.

Our Origins

Central Coast Culture Gateway would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude for the kind assistance of the Barang Regional Alliance and Jawun for providing the vision, people, resources and funding to make this important community initiative a reality.

We would also like to express our gratitude to the exceptional people in the Aboriginal community on the Central Coast who together form the vibrant culture we enjoy and without whom this would not be possible.
